Blenheim Estate

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Blenheim Estate is a 12-acre (5-ha) property rich in Civil War history. The estate is situated just outside of Fairfax and features a Civil War Interpretive Center, as well as historic buildings from the mid-1800s and exhibits of art and poetry by Union soldiers. Open 12noon to 4pm, Tuesday through Saturday. Tours available.

Fairfax Station Railroad Museum

This museum is open Sunday afternoons and highlights the role of the local railroad, particularly during the Civil War. The museum features a gift shop and exhibits, including one of Clara Barton, who attended wounded soldiers in Fairfax and went on to found the American Red Cross.

Fairfax Museum & Visitors Center

This two-story brick elementary school was built in 1873 and cost $2750. It now houses the Fairfax Museum and Visitor Center. The museum houses exhibits about the history of the city and provides walking tours of Old Town Fairfax.
